Ice Spice Absolutely Crushes MGM Fenway
Ice Spice is an American rapper who gained prominence in the music industry with her unique style and catchy tracks. Born as Isis Gaston on January 1, 2000, in the Bronx, New York, she began her career in 2021 and quickly rose to fame. Her music often features drill beats and her distinct, playful delivery often produced by Riot USA, whom came out in support for the Y2K Tour. Ice Spice first gained significant attention with her song "No Clarity," which showcased her lyrical skills and energetic performance. She is known for her vibrant personality and fashion sense, which have contributed to her growing fan base. Despite being relatively new to the scene, Ice Spice has made a notable impact and continues to release new music and collaborate with other artists in the hip-hop community. Influenced by the likes of Nicki Minaj, Lil' Kim, and Cardi B, she incorporates elements of their bold, unapologetic styles while carving out her own niche in the industry.
MGM Music Hall provided the perfect backdrop for Ice Spice's dynamic performance. The state-of-the-art venue, is known for its excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere, allowed fans to connect closely with the artist. The lighting and visual effects enhanced the overall experience, creating a visually stunning environment that complemented Ice Spice's high-energy set. The stage consisted of a massive blow up doll resembling Ice Spice and a platform resembling a rock bridge with arches. Ice Spice used the whole stage and had a commanding presence. Fans loved when she performed from atop the structure. She delivered a performance that was frankly surprising. I went in with zero expectations and I was blown away. As one of the most anticipated shows of the summer, Ice Spice did not disappoint, showcasing her musical talents and captivating stage presence. Highlights for me with any Hip-Hop show is when artists do not use backing vocals. She rapped every lyric and sounded exactly like her album.
From the moment Ice Spice stepped on stage, the energy in the room was electric. She immediately had the crowd on their feet, singing along to every word. Her stage presence was top-notch and she owned the fans immediately, and her charisma was notable, drawing the audience in and keeping them engaged throughout the night. Ice Spice performed a mix of her well-known tracks and new material, showcasing her versatility as an artist. Songs like "Munch (Feelin’ U)" and “Barbie World” were crowd favorites, with fans rapping along to her clever lyrics and infectious beats. Every song she performed was delivered with precision and passion, highlighting her impressive vocal control and stagecraft.
The crowd at MGM Music Hall was a diverse mix of fans, but heavily featured were young people all united by their love for Ice Spice. The atmosphere was one of camaraderie and shared excitement, with fans dancing and singing together throughout the night. Ice Spice took time to interact with the audience, sharing anecdotes and expressing her gratitude for their support, further enhancing the connection between artist and fans. I think I saw enough twerking to last me a lifetime. I wish that this new generation would be present in the moment more than older generations of concert goers used to be. Cellphones have become a massive part of all our lives but are often very distracting during a concert. 90% of the fans had their cellphones held up high recording every moment. Sadly, this makes the concert experience less appealing. Ice Spice’s performance overall was as close to perfection as it can get for the genre. She blew me away and I will now attend every show in a 2 hour drive from us. BUY. THE. TICKET.
