Hartford’s Punk Revival: Blink-182 Delivers
Xfinity Theatre is known for its spacious outdoor setup, providing a lively and immersive environment for concerts and we absolutely love this venue. We believe it’s the best venue in southern New England. The open-air setting allows for a dynamic and engaging concert experience, especially on a clear night. The venue's large capacity means the crowd is often a sea of excited fans, creating an electric atmosphere that’s perfect for a high-energy band like Blink-182. It was a quintessential pop-punk extravaganza that delivered all the energy, humor, and nostalgia fans have come to expect from the band. From start to finish, the evening was a celebration of Blink-182’s iconic sound and infectious stage presence. There was no shortage of sexual humor jokes to go around. The band kept the crowd laughing and entertained from the first note to the goodbyes.
The setlist was a well-crafted mix of Blink-182’s greatest hits and recent tracks, catering to both longtime fans and those newer to their music. Highlights included crowd favorites like “All the Small Things,” “What’s My Age Again?,” and “I Miss You.” The band also featured songs from their latest album, blending new material seamlessly with their classic anthems. The pacing was spot-on, keeping the energy high and the crowd engaged throughout the show. Blink-182’s stage presence was dynamic and engaging. Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and Tom DeLonge brought their A-game, showcasing their signature mix of playful banter and high-energy performance. Hoppus’s charisma and DeLonge’s guitar work created a perfect blend of humor and rock 'n' roll. The band’s interactions with the audience were a highlight, with spontaneous moments and jokes that made the crowd feel like they were part of something special.
Travis Barker. What a drummer. We cannot say enough positive things about Barker. The way he plays the drums just captivates you as a fan or even a causal fan. I am not a diehard but I fell in love with this band at this show. I found myself just staring at Barker playing the drums. I don’t know where he ranks in the list of Rock Band drummers but to me he is at the top of that list somewhere. Travis also had his lovely wife Kourtney Kardashian in the building to witness his greatness.
The lighting and visual effects were vibrant and well-suited to the band’s energetic style. Flashing lights, colorful projections, and occasional pyrotechnics and lasers enhanced the overall experience, creating a visually stimulating show that complemented the music perfectly. The sound quality was excellent, with clear vocals and powerful instrumentals that filled the outdoor venue. A definite highlight was when the staging of the drums lifted high above the stage and Travis played from “in the sky” for a few songs.
Blink-182’s concert at Xfinity Theatre was a high-energy, entertaining event that lived up to the band’s reputation for delivering memorable live performances. With a carefully curated setlist, dynamic stage presence, and excellent musicianship, the show was a celebration of everything fans love about Blink-182. The lively atmosphere of the Xfinity Theatre, combined with the band’s engaging performance, made for a night to remember. Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to their music, Blink-182’s concert was a testament to their enduring appeal and ability to deliver an unforgettable live experience. As a casual fan I was blown away. The crowd is what sealed it for me. The fans were the most energetic that I have seen this year at any show. From start to finish they were all wrapped around the band’s fingers. This wasn’t a younger crowd either which made this more impressive. Without a doubt if blink-182 is heading to your town you should absolutely BUY. THE. TICKET.
